You don't need a lecture about responsible drinking. You need practical strategies that work in real life — at parties, dinners, and nights out in Calgary.
Food slows alcohol absorption. Eating before drinking and snacking throughout the night is the single most effective thing you can do. It's not complicated — it just works.
One glass of water between every alcoholic drink. This slows your pace, keeps you hydrated, and dramatically reduces how rough you feel the next morning. Carry a water bottle if you're at a party.
Your body processes roughly one standard drink per hour. A "standard drink" is 12 oz of beer (5%), 5 oz of wine (12%), or 1.5 oz of spirits (40%). Going faster than that means you're accumulating alcohol faster than your body can process it.
Decide before you start drinking how you're getting home. Cab, rideshare, designated driver, or walking. Never drive after drinking — Calgary has too many good alternatives for that to ever be the plan.
Nobody worth hanging out with will pressure you to drink more than you want to. One drink, zero drinks, non-alcoholic beer — all valid choices.
We carry non-alcoholic beer and wine for anyone who wants the social experience without the alcohol. Call (825) 450-3030.
