Mocktails: 5 Non-Alcoholic Drinks That Don't Suck

Beyond Juice and Soda

Not drinking doesn't mean you're stuck with Sprite. Mocktails have come a long way, and a well-made one is genuinely satisfying — not just a consolation prize.

1. Virgin Caesar

The full Caesar build minus the vodka. Clamato, Worcestershire, hot sauce, celery salt, and all the garnishes. The spice and umami make this work without alcohol.

2. Sparkling Limeade

Fresh lime juice, simple syrup, sparkling water, fresh mint. Serve over crushed ice. Refreshing, looks good in a glass, and costs almost nothing.

3. Ginger Mule

Ginger beer (non-alcoholic), fresh lime juice, a few dashes of Angostura bitters (technically contains trace alcohol but is used as a flavouring, not a spirit). Copper mug optional but recommended.

4. Fancy Arnold Palmer

Fresh-brewed iced tea and fresh-squeezed lemonade, 50/50. Add a sprig of rosemary and a little honey. Elevated and satisfying.

5. Shirley Temple Upgraded

Ginger ale, grenadine, fresh lime, maraschino cherry. Replace the ginger ale with fancy ginger beer for a grown-up version that actually has complexity.
