Pizza and drinks is one of life's perfect combinations, but most people default to whatever beer is in the fridge. Here's how to level up your pizza night drink game.
Beer: a medium-bodied lager or amber ale. Something like Keith's or a craft amber. Wine: Chianti or Sangiovese (Italian pizza, Italian wine — it works). The slight acidity cuts through the grease and cheese.
Beer: a wheat beer or pale ale. Something lighter that won't overpower the fresh flavours. Wine: Pinot Grigio or a light Pinot Noir. Rosé is excellent here too.
Controversial pizza, easy pairing. A tropical IPA, a Riesling, or a cooler/seltzer with citrus flavour. The sweetness of the pineapple matches with slightly sweet drinks.
Beer: an IPA or pale ale — the hops stand up to the bold BBQ sauce. Wine: Zinfandel or a Malbec. Something with enough body to match the sauce.
