May long, August long, Labour Day — these are 3-day weekends built for camping, lake trips, and backyard hangs. Here's how to stock up without overspending.
Cost per unit drops dramatically at 24+ packs. A 24-pack of domestic beer runs $35–42. That's about $1.50–1.75 per can. Compare that to $2.50+ per can in a 6-pack. For a long weekend, 24-packs and flats are where the value lives.
Handle-size (1.14L) bottles of spirits are significantly cheaper per ounce than 750ml bottles. A 1.14L of Smirnoff or Captain Morgan is a much better deal than two 750ml bottles.
Many liquor stores offer 10–15% off when you buy 6 or 12 bottles. Mix and match if allowed. For a long weekend with a group, buying a case makes sense financially.
Variety packs are almost always the best per-unit deal, and you get to try multiple flavours. Win-win.
Ice (bags from a gas station are usually cheapest), cups (dollar store), and a cooler or two to keep everything cold.
