The Calgary Stampede is a 10-day celebration that involves more alcohol than most cities consume in a month. Whether you're hosting a Stampede breakfast, throwing a backyard party, or recovering at the hotel after a night on the grounds, planning your drinks is essential.
The classic Stampede breakfast drink is a Caesar or a Bloody Mary. Stock up on Clamato juice, vodka, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, celery salt, and fresh celery and pickled beans for garnish. Budget 2–3 Caesars per guest for a 3-hour breakfast. Beer should be available too — plenty of people prefer a cold one with their pancakes at 8 AM during Stampede.
For a standard 4-hour Stampede party with 20 guests: 2–3 flats of beer (48–72 cans), 4–6 bottles of wine, a bottle each of vodka, rye, and tequila, plus coolers and seltzers for variety. Mixers: large bottles of ginger ale, cola, tonic, orange juice, and lots of ice. Always have 20% more than you calculate — Stampede makes people thirsty.
Nothing says Calgary Stampede like a rye and ginger. Crown Royal or Alberta Premium rye whisky, Canada Dry ginger ale, and a squeeze of lime. Simple, refreshing, and absolutely everywhere during Stampede. Stock extra rye — it goes fast.
Stampede parties have a way of lasting longer than planned. When you run low, call (825) 450-3030 and we'll deliver more. We run extra drivers during Stampede week because we know the drill.
